LEEA Meet the Team #GLAD24

As part of celebrations for Global Lifting Awareness Day #GLAD24 today (July 18), Ross Moloney, CEO, LEEA, takes guests on a virtual tour of their offices in Huntingdon, UK.

“We are a global trade association but unless you come here to do any training, you'll probably never come to the LEEA offices and see what we're actually doing. So I'm going to go around and introduce you to people and talk about what they do,” said Moloney.

First up on the tour is Hannah Marsh, business support administrator, part of the team that members speak to when they are booking any training or have any questions.

Next Moloney introduces us to Matt Barber, the newly appointed director of Membership, one of several key new senior management appointments playing a strategic part in the association’s development.

“We have touchscreen technology in our Boardroom, which means we can speak to our members globally. Matt is one of our new recruits that's looking at making sure we are better tuned in to our members, so that we really understand what they need and we can actually develop solutions that they need,” he said.

“We speak to 1100 members globally. If we don't speak to them, we're failing. We're not getting to produce the solutions that they want. So, this is our meeting room. This is where we brainstorm. And if we ever develop anything good, that's normally where it comes from. Next is the finance department followed by our training rooms.

“Members can complete face-to-face courses at LEEA, and we have some more training facilities where you can come and do real hands-on training where you actually pick up the product and get used to it and feel the weight of it. Upstairs we have our Zoom video rooms. We carry out training at a distance with an instructor in the room. Also, rooms where our trainers broadcast to students worldwide and facilities where apprentices can come and do their examinations.

“All digital technology is really effective, certainly after coming out of Covid but it’s great to hold in-person events again.”

In terms of Moloney’s office he said: “I don't have an office. LEEA used to have two facilities. One upstairs and one downstairs but I believe that if you're an executive that sits away from your colleagues, you miss so much so I work in the boardroom using the big screens and jump on my laptop here. I also work on the road, but this is where I sit. This is where the magic happens. In the boardroom and I get to work alongside colleagues like Matt.

“That’s the whole point of LEEA. Our members tell us what they need from us and of course we share our ideas, but we are here to support the global industry. It’s a membership-based association and we punch way above our weight because it’s a tight knit team that over delivers.”
