Voxpop: LIVE at LiftEx 2024 Part II

LEEA took to the show floor to talk to exhibitors at LiftEx 2024, at London Olympia, on Day 2 (October 17) to find out what visitors to the event thought of the show.

Here Jenny Eagle caught up with freelance journalist Dan Jenkins, Lokman Hadji, assistant GM, OSCO Oil Services company, Algeria, George Dunn, MD, Lifting Equipment Store (LES) UK, Rory Stewart, sales executive, Lifting Gear Products, Rob Whitehurst-Maiden, sales manager, RiConnect and Leanne Whitehurst-Maiden, sales director, RiConnect.

LES has been a full member of LEEA for nearly two years now. “We come to LiftEx to catch up with everybody, to see old faces and new ones. I think this year has been the biggest year for product innovation,” said Dunn.

OSCO has been a full member of LEEA for a year and is about to renew its membership. It specialises in the inspection and verification of lifting equipment, accessories, manual lifting machines and offshore containers.

“It’s been a journey getting to teach the personnel and getting to know everything that LEEA has to offer. It’s important to spread awareness, especially in Algeria as it is one of the top producers of oil and gas, so lifting operations are everywhere from ports to onshore/offshore drilling. We are focusing not only services but raising awareness when it comes to health and safety in the field,” said Hadji.

“It’s quite interesting to see all these manufacturers in one place and learning from them on the different methodologies and materials in the lifting field.”

Stewart, 22, from Lifting Gear Products is following in his grandfathers’ footsteps by joining the company he worked for in the 1970s. “There is a massive absence of young people, not just in lifting but in engineering in general. If they get into the industry, they will realise just how amazing it can be.”

Headline sponsors, Rob Whitehurst-Maiden and Leanne Whitehurst-Maiden, sales director, of RiConnect said ‘LiftEx is a key event for us to support LEEA’.

“It’s a fantastic event with the quality of people that come, we’re promoting RiConnect software; asset management and compliance software and working with YOKE to promote the tags that work with the software, such as RFID and NFC labels. We’re looking at digitalising lifting equipment so we can have a more sustainable and safer future,” the couple said.
