LEEA quality benchmark gives SHS competitive edge

Scotia Handling Services (SHS) Ltd is an independent, family run lifting equipment company, who supplies, inspects and repairs equipment along with carrying out a wide range of load testing. Available on a 24/7 basis, it has a vast portfolio of valued customers – locally, nationally and internationally. LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) membership has proven to be invaluable to SHS’ development and has offered practical assistance to the company’s managing director, Rosie Wiseman.

“Joining the industry in 2015 from a background in accounting presented me with a very steep learning curve,” Rosie explained. “LEEA has been a constant support and I have built a good relationship with our Technical Officer, who has provided invaluable guidance and advice.”

SHS has built its reputation on an unswervingly high quality service since it was established in 1977. Its engineers have completed LEEA qualifications, which means they are trained to the highest industry standards.

“The company has put a huge focus on investing in its workforce in the last couple of years, and we have found LEEA's training courses to be excellent,” said Rosie. “All of our engineers hold diplomas and we are operating well above our requirements for full membership. Up-skilling our staff proves our commitment to provide an excellent quality of service to our customers and LEEA sets the high standard, which we are continually working to maintain.”

LEEA membership is fast becoming a key performance indicator, according to Rosie: “It is becoming increasingly common for our customers to request LEEA Team Members and evidence of membership, showing that they also recognise the worth of the benchmark that LEEA membership proves. It’s invaluable for a small, independent company like us who are working in a market of much larger players.”

Welcoming Rosie’s comments, Ross Moloney, LEEA’s CEO, said: “Our priorities at LEEA are to support our members to identify and manage risk; protect and promote our members’ interests; and to provide our members with a competitive advantage. Scotia Handling Services provides a prime example of how the high quality service assured by membership of LEEA benefits end users and gives members a competitive edge.”
