Kevin Holmes Award for Excellence in People Development

In honour of our dear colleague and friend, Kevin Holmes, LEEA is delighted to announce the “Kevin Holmes Memorial Award for Excellence in People Development.”

During Kevin’s career, he demonstrated his belief in lifelong learning and continual professional development, always seeking ways in which he could improve and excel in his work. During his latter career in the lifting equipment industry, he demonstrated his passion for the development of others. Recognising, as many of us do, that we have a mature workforce in our industry, and very few newcomers to our niche discipline, Kevin became actively involved and supported learning and development in many ways, including technical training delivery and skills development.

LEEA has been privileged to benefit from Kevin’s knowledge, experience and support since he became Chairman of the Examinations and Qualifications Committee in 2015, and as a Board Director. During his tenure, Kevin supported the development of the LEEA Academy, our City and Guilds accreditation, CPD development planning whilst tutoring our original overhead travelling cranes correspondence course. Kevin’s presence and input are sadly missed, but as we realise and appreciate our loss, it reminds us of how lucky we were to have the pleasure of knowing him as long as we did.

This award will recognise member companies demonstrating a culture of people development, promoting lifelong learning, which focuses on talent and performance enhancement.

While face-to-face learning is most useful in some contexts, effective organisational learning now embraces a range of approaches such as, mobile, in-the-flow of work, and through communities of practice and peer support. Our very own LEEA Academy was designed to support learner accessibility and engagement through facilitated learning, utilising a knowledge base and a learner community for socially collaborative learning. We therefore welcome entries that embrace creative approaches to staff development and learning.

Closing date for entries is 31 August 2018. Apply now at www.liftex.org/leea-awards-dinner
