LEEA attends its first Step Change in Safety Lifting Forum

For the first time, LEEA attended the Step Change in Safety LIFTING FORUM, which attracted over 40 delegates, on 20 March in Aberdeen. The main theme for this forum was ‘Major Hazard Understanding related to Lifting’.

Discussions about the work to create the 9th Edition of the offshore lifting and mechanical handling guidelines were led by Kenny Lawtie, Chairman of Step Change in Safety. Jarrod King of the HSE presented on the supply of machinery safety regulations and LOLER regulation 9 Thorough Examinations. Trevor Gregg of HSE also addressed the forum, as did Step Change For Safety’s Programme Delivery Manager, Richard Bevan.

Step Change in Safety is a UK, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making the UK the safest oil province in the world in which to work. The member-led organisation brings together operators and contractors, trade unions, regulators and the workforce to continuously improve the safety of the North Sea.

The next Step Change in Safety Lifting Forum will take place on 12 June and will focus on ‘Industry Sharing and Learning’, with industry presentations and case studies offering mutual learning.
