Meet The Team - Ryan Hillyer
Ryan Hillyer is a Student Support Officer at the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA).
A former LEEA Training Specialist, Ryan has extensive experience delivering courses, developing assessments, and supporting training providers across the lifting industry.
Bringing a strong blend of operational, technical, and training experience to the role, Ryan has travelled across the UK and internationally to deliver training and engage with members, giving him a broad understanding of different operational environments and industry needs.
In his current role, Ryan is responsible for supporting learners through their full assessment journey. This includes providing:
- Providing detailed feedback.
- Delivering one-to-one support.
- Analysing assessment performance to identify trends and areas for improvement.
The role also covers, assessment Integrity & compliance, assessments and question bank development, direct contact for members/training providers, coaching and intervention support and the delivery of training still.
Ryan plays a key role in maintaining the integrity and quality of LEEA’s qualifications, ensuring assessments are fair, robust, and aligned with industry standards, while helping learners improve performance and achieve successful outcomes.
Ryan also served within the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, where he gained over seven years of experience in light and heavy recovery operations. During his service, he worked across multiple regions, including international deployments, developing practical expertise in mobile cranes, winches, and lifting operations, as well as inspection and operational planning.
This combination of hands-on operational experience and training expertise enables Ryan to provide practical, real-world support to learners, ensuring they develop the competence and confidence required to operate safely and effectively within the lifting industry.
