Talurit Group celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and is attending LiftEx 2023 in Liverpool on November 21, 22, exhibiting in the Chains, Ropes and Accessories category alongside Bridon Bekaert, Codipro, European Management & Marine (EMM Corp), Hendrik Veder Group, Latch and Batchelor, Lift Turn Move, RUD Chains, Sahm Splice, and William Hackett Chains.

Founded in the late 40s in Sweden, Talurit Group manufactures swagers and wire rope equipment, and has made an important contribution to the wire rope industry both in terms of efficiency and safety.

Employees around the world were invited to celebrate this milestone anniversary with an event held in Sweden in August.

The occasion also served as an opportunity for Talurit Group to reflect on its remarkable journey during the past decade and for their CEO to share his ambitious vision for the future. The event was also attended by the members of the board and the owner Bernhard Rohland.

Talurit was founded in 1948 by Gerhard Rohland who came to Sweden as a refugee during the Second World War. He was the third generation of rope manufacturers and had previously run a rigging shop and rope store. He patented the revolutionizing method for mechanical splicing of wire rope and after a few years of trials and errors, launched the first Talurit branded ferrules.

It did not take long after for his method of mechanical splicing to gain attention throughout Europe. With carefully selected licensees and distributors, his company started to grow during the 50s and 60s. Swagers, cutting machines, coiling machines and much more were developed and introduced to complement the core products.

In 1971, Gerhard passed the reigns to his son Bernhard Rohland, who turned it into a worldwide company and brand. Bernhard took strategic steps to ensure greater quality control and increased the in-house manufacturing. New and larger facilities were built in Sweden and the business continued to expand. Bernhard set out to improve the existing range of products and also developed more solutions and patents.

By the 80s, the company’s wide range of products had gained a sterling reputation of durability and reliability. This played a vital role in shaping industry standards. The manufacturing processes were optimized further during the 90s and this was when they geared up their marketing efforts to reach more markets around the globe. Today, the company operates in seven countries and the Talurit brand has become synonymous for high quality in the sector.

“It has been an honour for me to be a part of the company’s journey these past 30 years. One of the things that I am most proud of is the strong partnerships we have forged with our customers worldwide. It really shows our commitment to providing both exceptional products and services. And the brand’s global footprint has expanded substantially, now spanning across all continents, which is an impressive achievement,” said Thommy Andersson, Business Development Director, Talurit Group.

“Our success over the past decades would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of our talented workforce. This celebration was a great opportunity for us to express our gratitude and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a global team.”

The company also recently highlighted its team at Talurit in Gottmadingen, Germany, which plays a pivotal role in its global operations and the driving force behind its ferrule production.

“When I started working at the company in Germany in 1993, I was told that steel wire rope and mechanical splicing were about to be replaced by other technologies. But luckily, this expectation hasn’t come true,” said Uli Kaltenbrunner, MD, Talurit Germany.

“Through the last decades, we have continuously increased the number of ferrules produced in our plant, which is located in the very south of Germany, close to the Lake of Constance. Putting all ferrules shipped last year in a row, it would span from the shores of Lake Constance, through the whole of Germany, to the shores of the North Sea. That’s an impressive number, and it requires high automation and a motivated team.

“It is exciting to see, and I am very grateful for that fact, that all colleagues within Talurit Group are working closely together and heading for new markets, new applications, and new technologies to secure our constant growth.”
