LEEA launches COPSULE Version 10
The LEEA COPSULE Version 10 provides lifting equipment guidance that’s faster, smarter and easier to use wherever you work.
The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) has launched its Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Lifting Equipment (COPSULE) Version 10 (V10) as a major upgrade to its flagship guidance resource for the Lifting Industry.
The COPSULE V10 is a completely new approach to delivering LEEA’s globally-applicable, up to date, best practice guidance, written by impartial industry experts and including many new features to make it more informative and understandable.
Responding to feedback from users, it delivers a visually engaging and globally usable platform — bridging the gap between LEEA’s high-quality content and accessible presentation for end users of lifting equipment, such as supervisors, site teams and inspectors, as well as LEEA members and industrial safety compliance managers. It is also essential reading for regulators, sector influencers and anybody considering joining LEEA as a member.
Crucially, this enhanced accessibility will help more members and industry stakeholders to consult the COPSULE, either using the web-based version or a downloadable PDF. There is also a smart device-friendly interface to optimise the presentation of information for cell phones and tablets. This gives mobile users equally accessible best practice guidance on site – where it often is needed most.
Improved presentation
The new presentation is clear, structured and visually supported with easy to understand illustrations of what and what not to do – and this is delivered without any loss of content quality. Covering standard and general-purpose lifting equipment, the information contained within COPSULE V10 has been updated to take the latest products into account.
With an overall design conforming to LEEA’s globally recognised branding, it fits the professional, uniform experience expected from the Association, and recognised as trusted industry knowledge in a modern, easy-to-use format.
Professionally created and fully integrated with LEEA’s chatbot, the web-based presentation of the COPSULE V10 has a new, modular and searchable layout, which is simple to navigate, allowing users to find information quickly. This makes it easier than ever to digest and understand best practice.
Globally accessible
With its text, navigation and visual enhancements all designed to be easily understood by any reader, irrespective of where in the world they are consulting the guidance, COPSULE V10 further improves global accessibility of best practice lifting equipment guidance, including in LEEA‘s key regions of UK, Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. This will enhance the knowledge transfer to end users and increase usage of the COPSULE.
Improved navigation
Improved navigation comes from an interactive menu tree and an enhanced search function, which enables users to find the information they need in seconds, while imbedded links to figures and clauses allow quick referencing.
So, how does it work? The web version has the option to simply use the search function to find required information. Locate the search bar on the LEEA COPSULE web page, where there are lists of chapters and equipment types to search. Intuitive typing brings up search items quickly and takes the user immediately to the relevant content. There is also a search bar at the top of the portal, which then presents more detailed options for users to click on.
Another option is to use the Menu Tree, located on the side of the screen, which shows equipment categories and chapters. Selecting equipment categories and/or chapters immediately presents the relevant section of the COPSULE for further choices.
The PDF version of the COPSULE also offers a menu tree that can be clicked to select choices or users can click the relevant section on the contents list, which takes them directly to the required information.
The global importance of best practice guidance
The globally recognised and respected trade association for all those involved in the Lifting Industry, LEEA works collaboratively with its members, sharing knowledge and drawing on a diverse expertise and experience to continuously set safe, consistent and compliant industry best practices. Zero accidents and injuries is the prime objective and this underpins everything LEEA does, including the new version of the COPSULE. Because it works on the principle of best practice, rather than national guidance, LEEA guidance remains applicable globally, giving international workers and business the assurance of safety.
“Now that it has been developed to be even easier to use, if everybody in the lifting world reads and adheres to the LEEA COPSULE V10, the misuse of lifting equipment will be reduced and the world will be made safer,” says LEEA’s CEO, Ross Moloney. “While complying with national regulation is considered good practice, and of course must be done, following the COPSULE’s guidance means applying best practice when dealing with lifting equipment, particularly in territories where regulation and standards are less comprehensive.”
He adds: “LEEA COPSULE Version 10 reinforces LEEA’s reputation for delivering accessible, high quality and globally relevant information and adds to the essential modules of content and individual media assets that can be used to support end user training materials and other guidance documents.”
Available to members and non-members free of charge at leeaint.com, the LEEA COPSULE Version 10 can also be accessed via the LEEA Connect App, which is also available to download at leeaint.com and is also available to members and non-members.
