Be my Guest… Gillian Sales
Rope Assemblies has an exciting 2024 ahead, announcing its first rebrand in 38 years, launching a new logo, a new website, showroom and an expanded product range in different colours.
We chat to Gillian Sales, MD, Rope Assemblies after announcing the news at the recent PLASA Leeds tradeshow.
“We've just unveiled our brand new logo. It's black and white with a hint of parrot blue. We've basically gone for a design that’s a rope assembly with a parrot blue thimble, which looks like a tape measure, which as many people know, measurements are critical in our industry,” said Sales.
“The feedback at PLASA was that everybody loves the new design and just the fact we've modernised the look of our logo. We’re also launching an e-commerce website, where we are going to be debuting a lot of new products, a few of which we showcased at Leeds.
“Basically, we're adding a splash of colour to everything, things that we've always done traditionally for the theatres have been black. So, things like round slings and ratchet straps. We've got brand new colours, fluorescent colours in blue, yellow, pink and green. But we don’t just deal with the theatre. We've got to remember we've got other customers as well, from farmers to construction and transport, and they don't all want black, they want brighter colours.
“With the showroom, (the company is based in Retford, Nottinghamshire) we have a lot of local customers who pop in for what they need and don’t realise what else we can offer them, so we will have everything on display in reception, it'll be quite a nice change and hopefully we'll get a few more customers that way. We'll advertise locally more as well.
“The new ratchet straps and round slings are all in different colours now and we've got pulleys we're working on with a couple of suppliers. There'll be more things to come as we move online.”
Rope Assemblies is moving into one of its busiest periods this summer, with the Olympics in Paris and is attending ABTT, Association of British Theatre Technicians Theatre Show this week (June 5-6) in London.
The company is also supporting this year’s Global Lifting Awareness Day using the hashtag #GLAD2024 on all its social media, as part of the event on July 18.
“We're really proud of the industry we work in so we're going to be using the opportunity to help raise awareness about safe lifting across all the industries. We're really glad and proud to be LEEA members. We know we're in safe hands,” said Sales.Next, the company is going to further embrace sustainability with its packaging.
“We're already up to about 90% non-plastic on the packaging and we want to get up to 100% by the end of the year. So, we're working on it. We would like our suppliers to do the same as well and a lot of them already are so we know we can do it,” she added.
