LEEA Front and Centre at the 2025 New Zealand Crane Conference
That’s a wrap on the 2025 New Zealand Crane Conference, which brought the lifting industry together in Wellington from 16–18 July for three packed days, including a Crane Parade through the streets of Wellington to cap off the event. Held at Tākina (Wellington Convention Centre), this year’s event again proved why it remains a standout on the industry calendar.
Under the leadership of Sarah Toase and the Crane Association of New Zealand team, the conference delivered another brilliant event that resonated with industry professionals from across the country and across the globe, with representatives from the UK, Germany, the USA and of course Australia. From inspirational keynote speakers to technical panels to crown jewel – Lift of the Year award!
LEEA members were proudly represented across the conference floor. Longstanding supporters Cookes (a Bridon-Bekaert Ropes Group brand) and Shaw’s Wire Ropes were key sponsors, while The Buddie System showcased their innovative offering in the exhibition space. It was particularly rewarding to see LEEA member companies actively engaging with crane operators, regulators, government agencies and end users.
A key highlight was LEEA’s own Discovery Event, held on the Wednesday morning. This well-attended session brought together a cross-section of members and stakeholders to explore the latest LEEA developments, product talks and discussions on health and safety reforms being undertaken in NZ. It also served as a valuable forum for candid discussions around current pressures facing the sector and how the association continues to support members at the coalface.
The afternoon session of our event focused on the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) Review session. With input from a diverse mix of LEEA members, the session focused on reviewing current practices, unpacking proposed revisions, and identifying practical ways to strengthen safety outcomes across the board. This was a collaborative session, with strong alignment around the need to continuously improve and futureproof standards in a high-risk industry.
Throughout the conference, LEEA’s presence was clear and purposeful—reaffirming our position as a global leader in lifting industry excellence. Whether on stage, , or around the exhibit floor, it was a pleasure to engage in meaningful discussions that will shape not just policy, but practice, in the months ahead.
LEEA remains committed to working closely with our New Zealand members and industry partners to raise the bar on safety, innovation, and professionalism.
