LEEA Member Engagement Manager, Robert (Rory) Rorison, visited the Northern Railway TrainCare Centre at Newton Heath, accompanied by its Regional Safety Health Environment & Crime (SHEC) Manager, Andy Ridings, as part of a site audit conducted on 4th October.
The audit covered lifting and fall arrest equipment and accessory, provision, management, inspection and use across the whole site including the equipment provided in the purpose built St Mary’s Maintenance facility. Andy stated that, as associate members of LEEA, the Northern Railway Engineering Safety Team had requested Rory attend site for the audit to allow the Newton Heath site to benchmark its lifting operations management and controls on site.
Following the audit, Andy has recommended that similar LEEA visits are planned for the other Northern Railway Engineering TrainCare Centres and Light Maintenance Depots.
