Inaugural LEEA Australia and New Zealand meeting
LEEA CEO Ross Moloney recently joined regional managers Justin Boehm from Australia and New Zealand and William Ng from South East Asia in Sydney for the inaugural LEEA Australia and New Zealand Technical Committee meeting and the Regional Council meeting.
The meetings were held at the Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach on Botany Bay, to discuss the latest developments in the lifting equipment industry and to continue the strong work being performed by LEEA in the region. In addition to the meetings held, Ross and the team also visited Bunzl Safety and Lifting at their Erskine Park facility. This was a great opportunity to meet their team and spend time with Regional Council Chair – Andy Campbell and Managing Director – Mark Phelan.
The inaugural LEEA ANZ Technical Committee meeting is an important event for the association, as it marked the opening of a new chapter for LEEA in the region. Ashlea Johnston from Bunzl Safety and Lifting (pictured below with Justin Boehm) was nominated by the Technical Committee as the new Chair. Ashlea bring her extensive background in the industry to the fore and is a great ambassador for our industry. She will lead a committee which will include representatives from Hoisting Equipment Specialists, ProofLoad, Crane Bin Solutions, DE Calibrations, Pacific Hoist and Townley Drop Forge.
The Technical Committee will be tasked with developing new guidance documents, reviewing standards and progressing new standards projects. Additionally, their expertise will help in the engagement with relevant stakeholders such as regulators, industry associations, and end users.. The participants also shared their insights and experiences on the challenges and opportunities facing the lifting equipment industry in their local markets.
Ross Moloney, CEO of LEEA, was pleased to join the regional managers in Sydney for the meetings. He said, "It was great to be in Sydney for the inaugural LEEA ANZ Technical Committee meeting. These committee solidifies the strong presence of LEEA in the region and in promoting safety, professionalism, and technical excellence in the lifting equipment industry."
Justin Boehm, LEEA's regional manager for Australia and New Zealand, was also pleased with the outcome of the meetings. He said, "The inaugural LEEA ANZ Technical Committee meeting and the Regional Council meeting were a great success. We had some productive discussions, set outcomes and I am confident that we will be able to make a real difference in LEEA’s vision of Lifting and Height Safety Industries which have eliminated accidents, injuries and fatalities. Both Technical Committee and Regional Council are making valuable changes in our industry."
William Ng, LEEA's regional manager for South East Asia, echoed these sentiments. He said, "It was an honour to be part of the inaugural LEEA ANZ Technical Committee meeting and I’ve gained a great understanding of how the Regional Council works. I am looking forward to working with my own members in the South East Asia region to promote safety, professionalism, and technical excellence in the lifting equipment industry."
The LEEA ANZ Technical Committee meeting and the Regional Council meeting are continuing to raise awareness of safety issues in our industry.
