Rewarding futures
As part of LEEA’s drive towards sustainability of the sector, members of the association’s Learning and Development committee presented The LEEA Academy Awards for students who excelled on their courses during the LEEA academic year to September 2018 at a special ceremony, held during the LiftEx 2018 exhibition in Milton Keynes. The winners of this year’s awards reflect the membership growth, particularly internationally.
Winner of the Gordon Loveridge Memorial Prize, awarded to highest scoring foundation assessment during 2018 was: Mohammed Tag Elsir Abdullah of Keen Technical Services (Sudan).
Each of the LEEA Academy advanced programmes has an award called the Cyril McCaully Memorial prize awarded to the best paper in each of the advanced programmes. Joint winners of the Cyril McCaully Memorial prize for Lifting Equipment General: Joseph Thompson of Tubestar Oil and Gas (India) and Gavin Baxter of Scotia Handling Services (Paisley, Scotland).
Winner of the Cyril McCaully Memorial prize for Lifting Machines Manual was: Ajay Jayaram of DNVGL (Abu Dhabi).
Winner of the Cyril McCaully Memorial prize for Lifting Machines Powered was: Jaaquim Mohammed PK of Abdullah Rashid Al Hijri (Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia).
Winner of the Cyril McCaully Memorial prize for Runways and Crane Structures was: Taf Madzikanda of Niko Ltd (Southern England).
Winner of the Cyril McCaully Memorial prize for Overhead Travelling Cranes was: Mohamed Maher Mohamed Elrefaee of Zamil Inspection & Contracting (Damman, Saudi Arabia).
Winner of the Cyril McCaully Memorial prize for Offshore Container Examination was: Navin Ragoo (Individual Trainee Scheme).
Winner of the Cyril McCaully Memorial prize for Mobile Crane Examination was: Jomon Varghese, GL Nobel Denton (Qatar).
The final award of the afternoon was the Harry Brown Memorial Shield for best overall paper. This was won by Ajay Jayaram of DNVGL (Abu Dhabi) for his Lifting Machines Manual paper.
